In my studio I become an alchemist, blending infinite combinations of color, chemical, and substance in an effort to create a space unified within itself. I focus primarily on process rather than representation, and must be willing to deconstruct an area to bring cohesion to the entire canvas. After a number of paintings have grown to completion, I begin to see a thread running through them; the evolution of the works become an allegory of my world. Recent works reveal a theme of duality: a desire to escape adulthood’s demands and a desire to embrace a more structured life.
