Hello,
Welcome to the 7th East Austin Studio Tour! Over the course of a weekend,
November 22nd and 23rd, you will have the opportunity to view the works
of over 200 artists at 150 studios and galleries. These remarkable artists
comprise a wide range of disciplines, bound only by the common desire to
work within a few square miles east of I-35, an area that has thoroughly
established itself as the epicenter of visual art in Austin.
2008 Tour Guide
Around
Austin you may have seen the E.A.S.T. Tour Guides. These free books, available
at various local businesses include a 18x24 inch fold out map and full
color examples of the artwork on view at each studio. Check around town
the week before the tour and you're bound to spot one. Here are some locations
that we've been dropping books off at, although we suggest calling before
driving down to see if they still have some in store:
Cafe Mundi
East Side Pies
Big Medium
There are many others, just keep your eyes open!
This web
site is your best option for previewing the artwork of all the
E.A.S.T.
artists, with three times more photos than the Tour Guide. Use the
navigation bar on the left to find any artist alphabetically, by studio
number,
or by geographic region. Still, if you really want to see the tour
guide and
have been unable to find one, we have made a full color PDF of this
catalog available so you can flip through it on your PC. Be patient it
is a large
download.(We recommend against printing it, as it takes quite a bit
of ink and paper)

2008 E.A.S.T. Map
The 2008 Tour Map has also been inputted into Google Maps for 2008. This means
you can be an interactive participant of the tour, no longer just an observer.
Leave comments, post photos, and help others increase their perspective on
the tour by offering your experience, insight and opinions. Please be respectful
and courteous as you alter postings, as the map is now a collaborative effort
of not only the artists on the tour, but a collaboration with the participants
as well.
The
East Austin Studio Tour is sponsored by Big Medium, a local non-profit
organization that supports all visual arts. In addition to E.A.S.T.,
Big Medium sponsors the Texas Biennial and exhibits the work of local
and national artists year round. |
