59f. Macek Furniture | Mark Macek Woodwork | Furniture 405 Springdale Road While a student at UT, I was reading Invisible Man by Ralph Ellison in the lobby of the Texas Union building. The chairs were overstuffed and the atmosphere was quiet. I looked up and noticed that tall wooden columns surrounded the mezzanine. The wood was burgundy and warm. The columns were carved with Greek capitals and portraits of men I didn't know. They supported a canopy of beams and brackets, and I realized that I was going to be a woodworker. |
