55. Daniel Arredondo 4620-A E. Cesar Chavez
St Native of East Austin, this is my first year to participate in the East Austin Studio Tour. I graduated from AISD - A.S. Johnston High School because of art and my art teacher Carol Reynolds. After working many years in the high tech industry, I finally have the opportunity pursue my art. Over the years, I’ve taken art classes at ACC, UT and Austin Museum of Art (AMoA). I’ve attend classes with Instructors such as Sylvia Orozsco – Mexic- Arte Museum, Sydney Yeager and Andrew Long. Mrs Reynolds and Ms Orozco set the base for a future in Art. Sydney Yeager and Andrew Long provide direction in style and technique. I will always be taking classes at AMoA. I’ve been inspired by careers of artist such as Amado Pena and Brian (Bybeeman) Joseph. Pena changed careers from Art Teacher in AISD to full time artist. Bybee changed careers from City Planner to full time artist. Both artists focus on a theme and their style. My focus is on contemporary style religious art – Shepherds, Angels, Crosses and Landscapes with Churches. We all have a religious string in the fiber makeup. I try to pull on that string with my art. A resident of the newest art venue in East Austin, ArtPost, we will grow to be one of the “go to” locations on the Tour this year. The ArtPost will be one of the sites to remember and visit through out 2008. |
