Carey Russell 5305 Bolm Rd #8 Following last year’s series, Mongolian Portraits, photographer and filmmaker Carey Russell will be showing a new collection entitled, The New Arcadians: Photographs from Summer Camp. The series is an ethnographic study of the joys, fears and self discoveries young men experience as they form their identities and journey towards manhood. In this place rope-craft, archery, the identification of native plants and animals, totemism and other environmental literacies from a bygone era continue to resonate in our modern age. Carey was an Assistant Producer of Terrence Malick’s film The New World, and is currently at work on his first feature film. |
