In 2007, I began creating hand-stitched portraits. Radiating stitches define the planes of the face and build dimensionality. The inclusion of borders and objects that have special meaning to the subjects add charm. In my newest work, I enhance the portraits with colors that are in contrast to the skin tones or are symbolic to the subject. “People stood in awe and marveled at your work.” “The texture and light that you achieve with your needle are indeed remarkable and the emotion is readily recognized.” Carol Ikard (founder) and Kay Jay (2008 exhibit juror), Texas Museum of Fiber Arts.
